How the Guide Score works
Each business gets a Guide Score from 0 to 10, and every score cites its sources.
We gather the evidence
Reviews on Google, Yelp, BBB, Angi, Trustpilot and HomeAdvisor, state license checks, and a keyword scan of recent reviews.
We weigh it by category
Every category has its own weighted checklist, and every score cites its sources.
We stay honest about it
Most of our reviews are research-based, so they’re capped at 9.0 until we visit or hire the business ourselves.

Member reviews make up the Community Rating, which we always show separately from the Guide Score. Every review is checked by a moderator before it goes live, and owners can’t review their own business.
