Review Guidelines
Peachtree City Guide lets verified members share their own experiences with Peachtree City businesses. Here’s what we publish, what we don’t, and how we keep reviews honest. These rules apply to every review the same way, whether it’s 1 star or 5.
Two ratings, kept separate
- Guide Score (0 to 10): our editorial rating, based on public records and reviews on other sites. See How We Score.
- Community Rating (1 to 5 stars): a plain average of approved reviews by verified members. It appears once a business has at least 3 approved member reviews that count; until then, the page shows “not enough member reviews yet.”
We never combine them into one number. Once a business has 3 or more approved member reviews, those reviews also feed the recent-customer-experience part (10%) of the Guide Score, capped at half of that sample. See How We Score.
Who can review
- You must be 18 or older, signed in, with a verified email address (or sign in with Google).
- One review per business per person. You can update it later, and the update replaces the original.
- The business must be in Peachtree City, GA.
- Owners, employees, their family members and competitors can’t review the business, even if they disclose who they are.
What we publish
Honest, firsthand experiences from roughly the last three years: a meal, a repair, a service call, a purchase, a quote, even a phone call that went well or badly. Strong opinions and low ratings are welcome. Specific details help your neighbors most: what you had done, roughly when, what it cost, and how problems were handled.
What we don’t publish
We decline a review, or send it back for editing, if it:
- Isn’t your own firsthand experience. No secondhand stories, rumors or “I heard…”.
- Comes from someone with a conflict of interest: owners, employees (or anyone who worked there in the last 12 months), their family, competitors, anyone paid or rewarded by the business, or anyone in an active legal dispute with it. We don’t accept these even with a disclosure.
- Contains personal information: full names of private people (staff first names are fine), phone numbers, email or home addresses, license plates, or photos of identifiable people without their consent.
- Contains hate, harassment, threats or sexual content, including attacks based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national origin.
- States things as fact that are clearly false or can’t be supported. Describe what happened to you, and don’t accuse anyone of crimes.
- Is about the wrong business or off-topic, like a different location, politics or general rants.
- Is advertising. No links, promo codes or “hire my company instead.”
- Is a duplicate. Update your existing review instead.
- Leaves out an incentive (see below).
- Contains confidential information or trade secrets.
- Is too short. At least 50 characters, please. A star rating alone isn’t enough.
We never reject, hide, delay or push down a review because it’s negative.
Incentives
If you got anything for writing your review, like a discount, gift, payment or a drawing entry, tick the incentive box on the form. The review will show an “Incentivized” label and won’t count toward the Community Rating. Businesses must never offer rewards only for positive reviews.
Reviews are the author’s own views
Each member review, comment and rating reflects only the views of the person who wrote it, not Peachtree City Guide. We don’t write, verify or endorse member comments. We check that the reviewer has a verified account, not that every statement is true. Approving a review under these rules doesn’t mean we agree with it. More on our Legal & Disclaimers page.
How moderation works
- Every review is checked by an admin before it appears. We aim to finish within 3 days.
- We don’t edit your words. If something needs changing, we send it back with the specific guideline it breaks. The only change we make ourselves is removing personal information, marked “[removed by moderator]”.
- Suspected fake reviews (brand-new accounts, sudden bursts for one business, near-identical wording, or several accounts from the same device or network) may be held. We may ask for proof of your experience, like a receipt with personal details blacked out, a photo, or the date and type of job. We view proof privately and delete it within 30 days of deciding. Reviews with proof may get a “Verified customer” badge, which doesn’t give them extra weight.
- If we find a coordinated campaign, positive or negative, we remove the reviews involved and may note that on the business page.
Business owners
- Claim your free listing to update hours, contact details and services, and to respond to reviews. We verify claims by email at your business’s own web domain, a call back to the listed business phone, or business documents.
- You can post one public response to each review, labeled “Response from the owner.” Responses follow these same guidelines.
- You can’t edit or remove reviews, see reviewers’ contact details, or review your own business or competitors.
- Advertising doesn’t buy influence. Nothing paid ever affects which reviews are published, how they’re ordered, the Community Rating or the Guide Score.
- Don’t pressure reviewers. Groundless legal threats, intimidation or knowingly false accusations aimed at getting a review removed aren’t allowed and may violate federal law (FTC Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, 16 CFR § 465.7).
- You may ask all your customers for honest reviews. You may not ask only the happy ones, or offer rewards that depend on a positive review.
Reporting a review
Use the Report link on any review and tell us which guideline you think it breaks. We don’t remove reviews just because someone disagrees with them, and we don’t decide whose version of a disputed experience is true.
Appeals
If we declined your review, or you’re a business that disagrees with a decision, reply to our email or contact us within 30 days. Tell us which decision and why. Someone else (or the site owner) will take another look within 7 days.
Your account and your reviews
You can delete your account anytime from your account page. You choose whether your reviews are deleted too (the default) or kept under “Former member.” See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
Our own conduct
- We never write, buy or invent member reviews, including under fake names or generated with AI.
- Our Guide Score is a separate, clearly labeled rating and is never posted as a member review.
- We publish every review that follows these guidelines, positive or negative.
