Licensing for roofing: Georgia has no state roofing license. Re-roofing of existing structures is a Limited Service Specialty: within that scope a roofer does not need a GA residential or general contractor license (https://sos.ga.gov/page/limited-service-specialty-contractors-policy-statements; O.C.G.A. § 43-41-17). Work outside the specialty, such as structural framing, additions or other non-roofing work on a residential job over $2,500, can need a residential or general contractor license (O.C.G.A. § 43-41-2; check at https://verify.sos.ga.gov/verification/, where our automated lookup was blocked by a bot check). Manufacturer certifications (GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Atlas) are not licenses. We mark them verified only when we read them on the manufacturer’s locator.
